The Jamaica Statistical Society will host their 3RD Biennial Jamaica Statistics Symposium and Pre-Conference Workshops 2017 under the theme "Statistics For Success: Ethics, Data Security and Quality." The program aims to further hone the data management and analysis skills of students, researchers, data analysts, policy makers and professionals from all sectors of society involved in securing data, safeguarding data quality, interpreting and using statistics and statistical methodology.
On October 24th there will be two half day sessions to train participants in the use of Microsoft Excel and R Statistical packages to carry out data management that optimises data quality and security. These sessions will be led by experts from local training institutions.
On October 25th, participants will be equipped to make the best use of the American Statistical Association ethical guidelines in their practice. This session will be led by Dr. Rochelle Tracenberg, chair of the ASA Committee on Professional Ethics and director of the collaborative for research on outcomes, and metrics, Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, DC, USA.
